Rıfat Rasier graduated from Cerrahpaşa Medical School in 2004 and completed his PhD at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Boğaziçi University in 2017 with a grade point average of 4.0. Through his research at the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory of Boğaziçi University, he developed a technique for laser welding the incisions made during cataract surgery on the transparent layer of the eye, thus closing the incisions without the need for sutures. This innovative system uses a special wavelength to close a 2 millimeter incision remotely, minimizing the risk of infection and reducing the operation time.
